More than 500,000 Missourians have criminal records stemming from nonviolent and nonsexual offenses that are eligible to be sealed under state law through a petition process if an individual stays crime-free for a set number of years. Expungement under the petition is an EARNED RIGHT but can be a costly and complex process.
Next Saturday, April 27th, in honor of National Second Chance Month, we are joining 3 Daughters and 1000 Sons and EXPO STL to host an important TOWN HALL and community discussion to demystify the justice system expungement process! Join us as we break down the barriers to justice that impact record expungement.
This Town Hall will be moderated by former Missouri Supreme Court Justice George Draper and will host panelists representing different backgrounds and experience with all levels of the record expungement process including:
- Senator Jamilah Nasheed
- Judge Jospeh Whyte
- Sheriff Vernon Betts
- Circuit Atty. Lois Jackson
- Atty. Dan Veits
Doors will open at 1pm with a runtime from 2-4pm. This event will be held at the St. Louis Central Library auditorium located at 1301 Olive street, St. Louis MO 63103.
